Overview
TradeDay is a Chicago futures prop firm founded in 2020 by James Thorpe, its CEO, and Steve Miley, and registered in Illinois with a presence in the UK. It sells monthly evaluation subscriptions in 25K, 50K, 100K and 150K sizes on two paths: Quick Pay, with a 5-day minimum, a 30% consistency rule and payouts from the first funded day, and Fast Pass, with a 3-day minimum, a 45% consistency rule and payouts after every five profitable days. There are no activation fees. Quick Pay Funded Sim payouts are split 50/50 below $4,000 of profit and 80/20 above it, Fast Pass payouts are split 80/20, and traders who are moved to a Funded Live account keep 90%. Positions must be flat 10 minutes before the close, and tier 1 data releases such as CPI and FOMC cannot be traded.

Target ÷ loss is the total profit target divided by the max loss limit. Lower means less profit is needed for each unit of risk. Prices are list prices; "Apply discount" takes off the firm's current public code, which may not cover every program. Per $100K converts EUR and GBP at a fixed rate for ranking only. Buy links go to the firm's site; some are affiliate links (PropFirmly may earn a commission).

The drawdown trails the highest intraday balance, open profit included, and stops trailing once it reaches the starting balance.
In Funded Sim a payout can be requested after one trading day from any positive balance, with no buffer and a $250 minimum.
The split is set per account: 50/50 while current profit is under $4,000, 80/20 on the part of a payout that leaves more than $4,000 in profit, and 90/10 in Funded Live.
The Funded Sim drawdown is based on gross profit (balance plus payouts), so payouts do not pull it back down.
Each Funded Sim account is paused and reviewed for Funded Live at $10,000 of gross profit; profit above that level is removed and cannot be paid out.
Resets are listed on the pricing table at $45, $59, $108 and $162, while the help centre lists $45, $59, $96 and $144. A failed evaluation is reset free when the subscription renews.

The evaluation drawdown is calculated from the end-of-day balance but enforced in real time; after passing, the Funded Sim account switches to an intraday trailing drawdown.
Funded Sim payout rules, profit split tiers and the $10,000 gross-profit review are the same as Quick Pay (Intraday).
Resets cost $54, $79, $129 or $180, and a failed evaluation is reset free when the subscription renews.

Added with TradeDay 2.0. The end-of-day drawdown is kept in the Funded Sim account.
Funded Sim contract limits start at 1, 2, 3 or 4 minis and rise by one for each $2,000 of end-of-day profit; the 25K account is capped at 2.
Each payout needs five profitable days of at least $100, $150, $200 or $250, a balance above the starting balance and net profit since the last payout, with a $250 minimum request.
For accounts opened from 26 July 2026, payouts are capped at 50% of the balance and at $750, $1,500, $1,875 or $2,250 per request; the 100K cap appears as $1,850 in one help article.
On the first payout the drawdown moves up to the starting balance and stays there.
Accounts move to Funded Live at the fifth payout request, or earlier at TradeDay's discretion.
Resets are listed on the pricing table at $65, $95, $175 and $265 ($165 and $250 for 100K and 150K in the help centre), and a failed evaluation is reset free when the subscription renews.
Trading rules
What TradeDay lets you do on its accounts, taken from its rules and FAQ pages.
News trading
Allowed with limits
Open positions are closed two minutes before TradeDay's tier 1 releases (FOMC, CPI, NFP, EIA inventories, crop reports) and trading reopens two minutes after; deliberate breaches can cost the account.
Expert advisors
Allowed with limits
A trader's own automated system can run on NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Jigsaw or Quantower, but bots bought from third parties, API access and very high-frequency scalping systems are not allowed.
Copy trading
Allowed with limits
Copiers may link 2 to 10 Evaluation and Funded Sim accounts, or up to 5 Funded Live accounts, and may copy from the trader's own outside accounts; copying between Funded Live and other account types is not allowed.
Overnight holding
Not allowed
All positions must be closed 10 minutes before the product's daily close; TradeDay's automatic liquidation runs at 3:50 PM CT.
Weekend holding
Not allowed
Positions cannot be carried through the daily close, so none can be held over the weekend.
Rules to read before you buy
Up to 10 accounts at once, with at most 5 active Funded Sim and 5 Funded Live accounts; further passed evaluations wait in a queue.
All of a trader's accounts must use the same broker connection (Tradovate or Rithmic), and only one username and one trader per household are allowed.
Funded traders may not trade within 2% of a product's daily price limit.
VPS use is not allowed, and VPN or IP-masking users must switch them off for security checks at payouts and before Funded Live.
Purchased bots, spoofing and layering, trading on a slow external data feed and exploiting simulated fills are prohibited, and profits made that way are confiscated.
Accidental breaches of the permitted times, products and position limits do not fail an account, but repeated abuse does.
German citizens and Canadians outside Ontario can trade Funded Sim accounts but cannot move to Funded Live.
Funded Live traders pay CME professional data fees of $156 per exchange per month plus live commissions.
Inactivity: Accounts left dormant for 30 days may be offboarded, and Tradovate archives an account after a calendar month without a login, which counts as a failed account.
How the drawdown works
Intraday trailing (Quick Pay (Intraday))
The loss limit follows your highest intraday equity in real time, including open profit that you later give back.
End-of-day trailing (Quick Pay (EOD), Fast Pass)
The loss limit moves up once a day, based on your end-of-day balance, and ignores swings during the session.
Consistency rules
Quick Pay (Intraday)
Evaluation: no day above 30% of total profit, or the target rises; none in Funded Sim
Quick Pay (EOD)
Evaluation: no day above 30% of total profit, or the target rises; none in Funded Sim
Fast Pass
No day above 45% of total profit in the evaluation and, for accounts opened from 26 July 2026, in Funded Sim

$250 per request.

Quick Pay profit carried into Funded Live is paid at 50% up to the required buffer and 90% above it.
Losing a Funded Live account starts a three-month wait before new evaluations can be bought.
