What Rithmic is

Rithmic is a US technology company that provides market data and order routing for futures trading. It is infrastructure rather than a full charting platform: it delivers exchange prices to your trading software and sends your orders to the market, and it is known for fast, unfiltered tick data.

Most traders use Rithmic through a separate platform such as NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart, ATAS, Bookmap or Jigsaw, among others. Rithmic also has its own front end, R | Trader Pro, where you may need to accept exchange data agreements on first login and which some traders keep open to monitor positions.

Because Rithmic is a data and routing service, the trading experience depends on the front end you pair it with, so it suits traders who want order flow, depth of market or advanced charting tools. Before buying, check which platforms the firm allows, whether you must declare non-professional status for exchange data, and how many simultaneous logins your account permits.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rithmic a trading platform?

Not in the usual sense. Rithmic provides the market data and order routing, and you trade through a platform that connects to it. Its own R | Trader Pro app is mainly used for account checks, agreements and basic order entry.

Which platforms can I use with a Rithmic prop firm account?

Many futures platforms support Rithmic, including NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart, ATAS and Bookmap. Each firm decides which ones it allows, and some platforms need their own licence, so check both before buying.

Why do I have to sign market data agreements?

Futures exchanges require users of real-time data to accept their terms and state whether they are professional or non-professional users. Answer accurately, since professional status usually costs more and can affect what the firm allows.
