How local bank transfer payouts work
With a local bank transfer, the firm or its payment provider sends money from an account inside your country or currency area, using domestic payment systems such as SEPA for euro payments in Europe, Faster Payments in the UK or similar systems elsewhere. To your bank it looks like an ordinary domestic payment.
Because the payment avoids the international wire network, it often arrives faster and with fewer deductions, sometimes on the same or the next business day. You usually need a bank account in your own name in your country, with the local account details the provider asks for.
The conversion into your currency normally happens before the money reaches you, at a rate set by the firm's payment provider, so compare the amount received with the payout value. Check whether local transfers are offered for your country and currency, and expect identity checks before the first payout.
Frequently asked questions
Is a local bank transfer the same as a bank wire?
No. A bank wire usually travels internationally through correspondent banks, while a local transfer is sent within your country's own payment system. Local transfers tend to be faster and cheaper, but they are only available where the firm's provider has local coverage.
Will I pay currency conversion on a local transfer?
Often the conversion happens before the payment is sent, so you receive your local currency. The rate is set by the firm's payment provider, so compare the amount you receive with the payout value to see the cost.
Is local bank transfer available in my country?
It depends on where the firm's payment provider operates. Check the firm's payout options for your country and currency before you buy a challenge, especially if you want to avoid international wire fees.
